The Township had phone services since the start of the 1900's, and
each small area had it's own switchboard with it's customers, who
also took the time to maintain their portion of the telephone lines
which crossed their property.

In 1913, Amanda Anderson started working at the Irving Switchboard,
and after 33 years, decided to quit. The Tri-County Cooperative
Telephone Association was then organized and merged several in-
dividual ones, which included Eastern Union, Roseville, East
Irving, and West Irving.
